elenikaz.com is a food blog inspired by family recipes from Kastellorizo.

Our grandmother Fani (left) with her mother-in-law Triantafilia Kalaf from Kastellorizo in Perth, Western Australia c. 1930.  Many of Fani’s recipes were handed down to her from her mother-in-law as she and her husband James (Jim) lived with his parents, Triantafilia and her husband Nicholas, when they were first married. Triantafilia was a stern task master and  made sure Fani learnt all her recipes perfectly.  So these recipes that I am writing down are fourth generation, and for that reason I have not modified them to any great extent – just to use a food processor where it makes life easier, to use less sugar and to sometimes replace butter with olive oil.
